Littler, who was appointed executor of his father-in-law's will, embezzled a substantial £166,000 inheritance meant for Karen and her family, including a relative with Multiple Sclerosis and a child battling cancer. The betrayal is unforgiveable, Karen says, as Littler stole the proceeds of a house sale and splurged on a 60th birthday party and semen from an Olympic racehorse.
The couple met in the late 80s when Karen kept a horse in Littler's parents' stables. Littler charmed Karen with his charisma and confidence, claiming to have been a professional sportsman. They married in 1990 but divorced later due to Littler's focus on rallying cars. Karen met a new partner and had two daughters before separating.
In 2008, Littler reconnected with Karen, promising to take care of her and make up for past behaviors. He wore her down with promises, despite having a leg amputated below the knee after a road accident. Karen later discovered Littler's lies, including his military background and the success of his security company. He bought rally cars, an Aston Martin, and racehorses, living a lavish lifestyle while controlling all financial affairs.
The couple remarried in 2018, but their marriage was unhappy. Karen felt trapped and afraid to leave. Littler's deceitful actions continued, including liquidating his company and making false police reports. When Karen learned of her father's illness, she visited him daily and discovered Littler's betrayal as the executor of his will.
Littler stole the inheritance, leaving Karen and her family financially ruined. She had to sell her family home to pay off debts and faced harassment from people claiming Littler owed them money. The couple split in February 2024, and Karen went to the police. She has since rebuilt her life, returning to work and renting a smaller property. The trauma has left her with anxiety and PTSD.
In court, Littler was sentenced to 40 months in prison for fraud by abuse of position and received a seven-year restraining order.
